Half Moon Bay, Calif. – Mavericks Brewing, an independent craft brewing company devoted to creating innovative American craft beer in cans, is adding two more beers to its portfolio this month: the Big Break Belgian Golden Strong Ale, which received the gold medal for best French/Belgian Ale at the 2015 U.S. Open Beer Championships, and the Coastside Pilsner, which received the silver medal for Premium American Lager at the 2015 California State Fair. The two beers join the Tunnel Vision IPA, Belgian Style Wit, and Rye Pale Ale in the Mavericks product lineup.
The Big Break Belgian Golden Strong Ale features Pilsner malt that comes together with a touch of wheat. The results are a beautiful golden color and a light, sweet malt background. European hops are then added for a subtle grassy, earthy and herbal flavor. The Belgian style yeast offers aromas of honey, bubblegum and banana with a soft spice character. Belgian clear candy sugar is added for an exceptionally complex and dry finish. Available on draft and in a four-pack of 16 ounce cans. ABV 8.3% & 25 IBUs
The Coastside Pilsner is Mavericks’ take on an American Premium style lager, and is brewed with American 2-Row and German Pilsner malt for a clean malt profile. Both German and American hops create a grassy, woody and floral finish, while California lager yeast rounds out the profile for a remarkably smooth and well-balanced beer that is perfect for a warm coastal afternoon. Available on draft and in a four-pack of 16 ounce cans. ABV 5.5% & 31 IBUs
“With our latest Coastside Pilsner and Big Break Belgian Golden Strong, our brewing team has raised the bar yet again,” said Nate Rey, general manager, Mavericks Brewing and Half Moon Bay Brewing Company. “Each of these brews recently won awards at two prestigious competitions and is a true testament to their ever-expanding talents.”
