Director of Brewery Operations



The Director of Brewery Operations will lead and oversee the brewery.  They will oversee production staff, the facility, manage relationships with outside partners, and ensure the highest standards of quality, efficiency and safety.  This role is responsible for strategic planning and optimizing production.


The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a brewing environment and leading teams.  


Primary Responsibilities:

·     Overseeing all aspects of brewing operations, including the production of beer, personnel schedules, production schedules, quality control, and the supply chain of raw materials.  

·     Leading and developing the production team, including brewing, cellaring and packaging staff. The director of operations will be responsible for setting personnel performance goals and conducting regular performance reviews.

·     Working with the executive team to develop short- and long-term strategies for growth.

·     Identifying opportunities for new product innovation/ development, and then executing those ideas.

·     Thinking critically about optimizing production – from improving existing processes to making equipment upgrades to lowering costs – and then following through on enacting those changes.  

·     Maintaining the production facility. The director of operations will oversee the maintenance of equipment as well as resolving problems as they arise.   

·     Managing the brewing operations budget, including raw materials, labor, and overhead costs. 

·     Promoting a culture of safety within the brewery, and ensuring compliance with all relevant local, state and federal regulations.  

·     Negotiating contracts with third-party suppliers. 


Requirements & Expectations: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, ideally in brewery or beverage operations.
  • Proven track record of managing production teams and optimizing processes. 
  • Strong leadership, management and communication skills. Extremely organized, self-motivated, honest, and hard-working.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in brewing or operations management are a plus. 
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.  
  • Highly organized and proficient in Excel / Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of safe work operations and safety policies.
  • Physically capable of a variety of duties including (but not limited to) repeated lifting of 50 pounds or more. This job will require extended amounts of physical activity.
