POSITION SUMMARY

 

Performs all duties related to packaging. Ensures the best possible product is produced and packaged efficiently. Charged with operating all packaging equipment (material handling equipment, depalletizer, carbonation equipment, canning filler/seamer, carton erector, and case packer) to highest level; complying with all personal and food safety requirements and quality standards. Work with other members of production to coordinate and accomplish shared goals on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, based on production schedule.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·        Canning Line:

  • Wild Goose Filler/Seamer, advanced troubleshooting;
  • Pro Carb in-line carbonation equipment, advanced troubleshooting;
  • Carton erecting equipment;
  • Tray packer equipment;
  • Date coding equipment;
  • Labeling equipment.

·        Keg Filling:

  • Keg cleaning/washing;
  • Keg filling with manual coupler-style filler;
  • Sanitation preparation.


·        Equipment CIP (clean in place) processes:

  • Execute all CIP processes effectively and safely, maintaining all standards for food and beverage specifications;
  • Safely use food and beverage industry standard cleaning chemicals, in accordance with their intended concentrations;
  • Understand and follow through food and beverage industry sanitation practices.

Also:

  • Operate packaging line machinery: depalletizer, filler, in-line carbonator, conveyance, can inspection systems, box erector and tray packer
  • Recognize and address problems to ensure efficient production and maximize case production;
  • Assist with set-up, changeovers, and adjustments, clear machinery jams;
  • Perform off-line production, including hand-labeling projects, export labeling, reworking broken or mislabeled product, and destruction of compromised product;
  • Perform autonomous quality control of production on packaging line in coordination with quality specifications and production parameters (SOPs);
  • Wrap and stack finished pallets of product;
  • Assist in monthly inventory counts as assigned;
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards on the packaging line and warehouse: clean all machinery, conveyors, and related equipment;
  • Understand and adhere to all workplace guidelines and regulations;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • 2+ years of experience working in either or any of the following work environments:
  • Food/beverage production;
  • Working with packaging equipment (glass bottling, aluminum canning, etc.);
  • .Must have M-F, 6am-8pm availability;
  • Ability to function autonomously and perform high quality work without direct oversight;
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to implement corrective actions quickly and effectively;
  • Experience and understanding of basic pressure principles and fluid dynamics;
  • Self-starter personality;
  • Keen self-awareness, and awareness of surroundings;
  • Ability to manage stressful situations, while maintaining a cheerful outlook and collaborative mindset;
  • Must be dependable;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, with good skills in reading and writing;
  • Ability to document work and perform basic math;
  • Ability to operate menu-driven (HMI) electronic devices and machiner;
  • Strict adherence to all company and regulatory safety standards, including personal, process, and product;
  • Willingness to accept work in other areas as needed;
  • Forklift certified preferred;
  • Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs., 8-10 hours per day, up to 3 days per week;
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required;
  • Alertness and ability to respond to equipment malfunction.
  • Conditions in the packaging area can be hot in the summer (85F) and cold in the winter (50F), wet, slippery, and often noisy. Requires irregular shifts and long hours, handling hazardous materials and lifting, occasionally up to 65 lbs.; dragging hoses, climbing ladders and stairs, working at elevated heights, bending, and walking.

COMPENSATION: $23-26/hr., DOE, non-exempt

HOURS: Full-time, M-F, shifts may vary between 6am-8pm
