Head Brewer

We are seeking a skilled individual to run our production and packaging, particularly someone with previous experience in brewing production and in crafting hard seltzer, cider, fruit beers and hazy IPAs. Someone who has a passion for maintaining high standards of quality. Ideal candidates will have a fondness for clean lagers, hazy IPAs, innovative ingredients, dry-hopping methods and creative approaches to brewing and branding. You will be responsible for the entire beer production process, from milling to packaging, including stringent quality checks. You are also responsible for planning and scheduling multiple months out from actual production dates. This position demands independence and the capacity to manage the production and packaging for a small, very busy launching brewery.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage all brewing operations including the handling of brewhouse, fermentation tanks, and related apparatus.
• Oversee milling, mashing, grain removal, and hopping; manage the transfer of wort and bright beer; and conduct necessary yeast and sediment extractions.
• Conduct thorough cleaning of all brewery equipment and areas, including CIP processes.
• Operate the packaging and labeling machinery.
• Carry out meticulous measurements and calculations for production control, ensuring data is recorded swiftly in our production management software.
• Address any deviations in production measurements promptly.
• Ensure the brewhouse, production lines, and packaging areas are kept clean and organized.
• Evaluate beer quality before packaging.
• Assist in the orientation and training of any new staff.
• Collaborate with owners on special projects and support promotional activities, including participation in events and festivals.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Deep understanding of the brewing process and the science behind fermentation, with a capability to conduct blending and brewing calculations.
• Previous experience in a brewery production environment.
• Keen attention to detail with a strong focus on quality control and independent working capability.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks within a team.
• Knowledge of CIP and sanitation procedures, as well as experience with fermentation, bottling, canning, kegging, and labeling processes is required.
• Willingness to learn and use our brewing management software ollie and with familiarity with office software such as Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
• Aspiration for professional development and advancement.
• Availability for a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
• Physical ability to lift up to 55 pounds repeatedly and to stand, walk, and work in various physical positions and environments.
• Operation of forklifts and pallet jacks is required.
