POSITION: Assistant Distiller/Production Lead/
503 Distilling is an award-winning craft distillery with production and office locations in the Iron Fireman Collective in SE Portland. The company was started in 2016 with the passion of creating authentic ready-to-drink cocktails and hand crafted spirits.
We are a dedicated and energetic team of innovators with broad experience across all facets of the alcohol beverage industry including brand and product creation, research and development, production, direct and retail sales, event marketing and operations. Role and Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Head Distiller, the Assistant Distiller/Production Lead will have responsibility for weekly RTD (ready-to-drink) production as well as ongoing periodic production of bottled spirits and exclusive club member products. This role is broad in scope and includes performing warehouse management, inventory, distilling, cleaning, mixing and packaging in a safe and efficient manner.
- Responsible for ensuring both safety and quality throughout the blending and distilling process and from raw materials to finished goods
- Ensure daily finished product runs are consistent with the product recipe, taste profile and packaging and fill requirements
- Operation of all packaging equipment for both cans and bottles
- Responsible for daily equipment cleaning, emptying, and product change overs
- Seamless operations of the distilling equipment as needed
- Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of all TTB reports
- Responsible for monitoring inventory levels as well as organizing and executing warehouse operations
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in brewing, distilling and fermentation science
- Experience working in a beverage production facility (brewery, winery or distillery)
- Experience working in a food production facility a plus
- Some packaging experience desired
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Requires some weekend and evening work to monitor ongoing production activities
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and as part of a dedicated team
- Exceptional organizational skills including reliability and punctuality are a must
- A strong independent worker that takes initiative but also asks questions
- Able to problem solve and pivot in real time
Starting hourly wage of $22-$26/hr.
