In 2022, Fiddlehead was awarded Brewbound's Craft Brewery of the Year.

As our growth continues at a swift pace, we need a Senior QC team member to contribute to our quality program.

Essential Responsibilities:

Including, But not limited to the following

 - Maintaining and improving quality control lab and guidelines to ensure the consistency, quality, and continuous improvement of all Fiddlehead products.

 - Identifying quality problems and striving for improvement; working with the Head Brewer and other members of the QC team for implementation

  - Measurement and tracking of dissolved oxygen levels in finished products

 - Yeast management

   Tracking yeast generations and planning for prop ups with Head Brewer

 - Ordering all yeast to be used in fermentation

- Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  Assisting in the creation and maintenance of SOPs for all departments, as they pertain to quality.

 - Safety 

 Help ensure that staff remain safe within the brewery by assessing the quality of various production line components and materials. QC team members liaises with various departments throughout the brewery to ensure quality standards are maintained at every level.

- Participate in Fiddlehead's root cause analysis processes

- Sensory: participate in Sensory Analysis panel

- Test Raw materials to ensure in spec with Fiddlehead standards

 - Ensure lab data is actionable and concerns are communicated as needed for out-of-spec results.

- Provide training for operators on quality techniques and best practices, as needed

 - Assist with researching new equipment or instrumentation for lab and/or brewery as needed

    Repairing and servicing instrumentation as needed

 - Self-educating and researching to stay current on industry trends and developments in brewing science

 - Perform all necessary record-keeping

 - Maintain a clean working environment

 - Adhering to all safety regulations at all times

 - working with head brewer to set specs for each style to ensure consistency

 

 Position Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in a science discipline ( e.g., chemistry, biology,  

  microbiology, biochemistry, etc.)

 - minimum 3 to 5 years food and beverage industry lab experience

 - knowledge and understanding of basic lab functions and microbiological concepts

 - prior experience in the brewing industry a strong plus. Production brewery experience preferred.

 - Ability to effectively handle multiple demands and rapid change

 - Ability to operate with minimal supervision

 - Skilled in thinking critically and problem solving

 - Ability to lift 50 pounds
