Catawba Brewing releases collaboration IPA with their Charlotte neighbor, Advent Coworking.
Catawba Brewing Co. and Advent Coworking Collaborate on Small Batch IPACHARLOTTE, NC (April 23, 2019) – Just as spring weather arrives in the Queen City, like-minded companies, Catawba Brewing and Advent Coworking, have teamed up to create the perfect pint to enjoy outside with a skyline view – the aptly named, Feeling ADVENT-urous IPA. This new small batch beer will be released on Friday, April 26, exclusively at the Catawba tasting room.
On the surface, the two companies would appear to be unlikely partners in beer. But their close proximity has revealed much more in common than just a shared address at 933 Louise Avenue in Plaza Midwood.
"We focus on nurturing a creative community where folks can come together and collaborate and grow," says Kevin Giriunas, founder of Advent Coworking. "That's what makes this relationship with Catawba so perfect. They’ve created their own community, and this ‘colla-beer-ation,’ as we’re calling it, is significant for our collective communities and for Charlotte as a whole. We believe this is the first time a coworking space and a brewery have joined forces to create a craft beer."
“Advent is a company that values collaboration and creativity – as we do at Catawba,” concurs Mary Mayo, Creative Director of Catawba Brewing. “So, this project was a natural fit from conception through execution. We were really excited to bring our friends and neighbors from Advent into the brewhouse and make a delicious beer that we can all enjoy together – and, of course, we think our local customers are going to love it, too!”
In the spirit of inclusivity, their collaboration IPA (7.6 percent ABV) is a hybrid style that combines the best of both coasts. A grain bill of Pilsner and Vienna malts, combined with flaked wheat and oats, provides a pillowy mouthfeel that allows juicy tropical hop character to shine – typical of the New England IPA trend. Meanwhile, Simcoe, Citra, and El Dorado hops look Westward with familiar floral and citrus notes, and a generous 68 IBU count. The result is a "No Coast" IPA that showcases a complex spectrum of hop flavors, finishing crisp and moderately dry, with excellent drinkability.
Feeling ADVENT-urous IPA, voted on and named by the members of Advent Coworking, will be available on draft at the Catawba Charlotte tasting room for a limited time while supplies last.
About Catawba Brewing Company:
Catawba Brewing has been an industry leader in Western North Carolina’s craft beer scene for two decades. The company was founded in 1999 by WNC natives, the Pyatt family, who were inspired by their weekend homebrew hobby. From humble beginnings, the business has grown exponentially to become a major craft beer supplier across five states. Catawba now operates breweries and tasting rooms in three NC cities – Morganton, Asheville, and Charlotte – embracing a hybrid wholesale/retail strategy. With the 2018 acquisition of Palmetto Brewing Co. in Charleston, SC, the Pyatt family hobby has spawned one of the Southeast’s largest and most diverse craft brewing entities.
