Carolina Bauernhaus is releasing 3 beers from their winter cellar on 5/19

We're releasing 3 beers that have been resting gently in our wood cellar over the winter. Now that the weather is warming up, they're ready to burst forth like the spring beauties they are.

First up is Kuningilin, our hard to pronounce 8.0% golden sour. The name of our golden sour ale was inspired by the heirloom Wrens Abruzzi rye malt provided by our friends at Riverbend Malt House. German legend has it that the wren cunningly hitched a ride on an eagle’s back to become the highest flying bird and was crowned as ‘king of the birds’ - kuningilin. The spicy and earthy character of the rye malt used in this rustic refined ale is held aloft by a tart acidity drawn from our house strain of natively collected lactobacillus and crowned by a bright dry hop blend of Vic Secret and Amarillo hops.

Feral Barrel Raspberry is a 7.6% dark wild ale featuring regional malts fermented and aged in a blend of red wine and bourbon barrels with our house blend of native yeasts and Brettanomyces. We added a massive amount of red raspberries and capped the fermenter in order to allow the beer to naturally carbonate and seal in the berry goodness. Jammy fruit notes are balanced by a rich malt forward body and a tart dry finish.

Take a walk in town, in the country, through the woods, up a mountain. Wanderlust is a 7.4% walk across the world, an ale defined by it's ingredients – sweet locally harvested wheat, spicy regionally malted heirloom rye, bold west coast hops, and bready European barley. We combine all these elements and allow them to meld and age in regional wine barrels with our house blend of yeast and bacteria alongside some of our favorite yeasts and bacteria from around the globe. Crack open a bottle of this rustic refined sour red ale and start on a journey with us.

All 3 bottles will be releasing in the taproom at noon on Saturday 5/19, Kuningilin and Wanderlust are $12 for a 500ml bottle and Feral Barrel Raspberry is $16 for a 500ml bottle. You can also buy a set of 3 bottles for just $30 exclusively in our taproom!
