POSITION SUMMARY


Assist in the maintenance, repair, and operation of production and packaging equipment under the guidance of senior technicians. Perform routine tasks to maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to Good Manufacturing practices (GMP) and food safety, quality, and sanitation standards according to FDA and OSHA standards. This position offers training and development to support career growth within the maintenance department.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assist in performing routine maintenance on production, packaging, and logistics equipment.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical components under supervision.
  • Learn and apply lockout/tagout safety procedures for maintenance tasks.
  • Support senior technicians in diagnosing and addressing mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Help maintain inventory of parts, supplies, and tools for the maintenance department.
  • Document completed work and observations as required.
  • Assist with maintaining good communication with vendors, contractors, and operations personnel.
  • Participate in training and development to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors or senior technicians.


REQUIRED SKILLS


  • Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Willingness to learn about electrical systems, pneumatic components, and equipment diagnostics.
  • Basic understanding of safety protocols in a manufacturing environment (e.g., lockout/tagout).
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work collaboratively with team members.
  • Proficiency in general computer use, including basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to details and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work under guidance and directions, with a desire for personal and professional development.
  • Ability to engage in critical thinking.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Prior experience or familiarity with maintenance work, ideally in a food or beverage processing plant.
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic, plumbing, or refrigeration systems.
  • Forklift and scissor lift experience, or willingness to be trained.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions (e.g., cold, noisy) and handling hazardous materials with appropriate safety equipment.
  • Willingness to work irregular shifts and long hours during peak production periods.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hearing protection.


COMPENSATION:$24-40/hour, DOE
