Creating foods and beverages that succeed in the market is a collaborative effort. That’s why our mission at FlavorSum is to become a valued member of your team. When FlavorSum originated in 2020, we set out to fill a gap. We saw mid-sized and emerging food and beverage brands getting neglected by flavor companies while also missing access to resources from smaller suppliers. Our recent grand openings acknowledged the expansion of our Kalamazoo, MI facility and the addition of an Innovation Center in Marlton, NJ. Both initiatives reflect our commitment to support customers’ growth goals.
FlavorSum’s Kalamazoo Expansion Fully Operational
On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, FlavorSum’s Kalamazoo, Michigan team held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the site’s increased capabilities. The 35,000-square-foot expansion offers enhanced emulsion, extraction, and warehousing capacity and includes process automation to increase efficiency, quality, and safety. The Kalamazoo Innovation Center’s pilot plant has new UHT and HTST processing capabilities that help customers replicate and validate pasteurization production processes before scale-up.
The grand opening event hosted state and local media, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), community leaders, and the architectural, construction, and engineering teams who handled the project. Attendees toured the location, participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and talked with FlavorSum leadership.
“We focus on reducing the headaches associated with flavor sourcing and food and beverage product development,” said Brian Briggs, President and CEO of FlavorSum, as he spoke to the audience. “The Kalamazoo expansion helps fulfill our promise to provide the capabilities and resources required to become the go-to flavor solutions partner for small, mid-sized, and emerging companies. We’re grateful for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s shared commitment to the expansion that will deliver economic growth benefits to Michigan and the Kalamazoo region.”
