CINCINNATI — This April, Warsteiner celebrates the 500th anniversary of the German Purity Law – Reinheitsgebot– by importing a special WARSTEINER Braumeister Edition red bock beer to the United States.
Initiated by Duke Wilhelm IV and Louis X on April 23, 1516, Reinheitsgebot is the oldest food law in the world and still serves as a prerequisite for brewing premium, quality beer. The law states that beer only be made of water, hops and malted barley – a standard Warsteiner has held since its founding in 1753. Warsteiner uses only fresh Arnsberg Forest spring water, a special combination of bitter and aromatic Hallertau hops and top-quality brewing barley from well-known German producing regions and Champagne.
“We’re excited to celebrate Reinheitsgebot and the quality ingredients that give Warsteiner its premium and authentic taste,” said Laura Sprengard, brand manager for Warsteiner USA. “Only a small quantity of WARSTEINER Braumeister Edition has been imported to the United States, so fans have a limited time to experience a special beer that reflects our history and rich heritage.”
WARSTEINER Braumeister Edition was created in honor of Fritz Peters, Warsteiner’s first certified brewmaster who worked at the brewery for 30 years and was instrumental in its expansion. Inspired by vintage recipes, WARSTEINER Braumeister Edition has a full-bodied, fruity flavor with a distinctive maltiness and notes of honey and caramel. The warm copper color and large, creamy head create a delicious and memorable pour.
WARSTEINER Braumeister Edition is 6.5 percent alcohol by volume and will be available by draft in select locations throughout April and May (while supplies last). To find the nearest location, visit the Warsteiner Finder app on Facebook (desktop only).
