BURLINGTON, Ontario — Nickel Brook announced today that it’s highly-anticipated Café Del Bastardo will be launching at its Bottle Shop and forthcoming online store on January 27, with limited release to LCBO stores and licensees starting January 29. The award-winning beer is a collaboration with local Burlington coffee roaster Detour Coffee, who created a custom blend for this year’s beer. Cafe Del Bastardo also boasts a 99% rating on RateBeer.com.
“We were really excited to work with Detour on this year’s batch’ said Brewmaster Ryan Morrow. “They’re right around the corner from us, and they share our love of small-batch, hand-crafted products. Plus their coffee keeps us fueled up on some of our late-night brew days.”
Nickel Brook worked closely with the roasting team at Detour to craft a custom roast to complement the flavours of the beer. Adding six pounds of whole-bean coffee to a select few Kentucky Bastard barrels results in a rich, creamy brew with notes of roasty coffee, vanilla and a bright fruitiness.
Following the move of Kentucky Bastard and Cuvee to a more approachable format, this year’s Café Del Bastardo will be available in 500mL wax-sealed bottles. A limited number of kegs will be available where exceptional beer is sold.
