San Diego, Calif. — San Diego’s Saint Archer Brewing Company was founded on a dedication to creativity in brewing. That inventiveness is on full display in the release of our new Citra 7 IPA.
The new hop varietal Idaho 7 was only released to a handful of brewers. This beer breaks our IPA mold and puts the Idaho 7 and Citra hops front and center with a touch of light crystal malt. Idaho 7 was first released in 2015 as an experimental hop variety from Jackson Hop Farm in Wilder, Idaho. It possesses aromas of pungent stone fruit and citrus (apricot, orange, red grapefruit, and papaya) along with resinous notes of pine. While Idaho 7 is new on the brewing scene, Citra hops is a favorite among craft brewers for their intense citrus aroma.

“We decided to brew Citra 7 IPA because BSG (Brewers Supply Group) approached us with this new variety, Idaho 7, which was available in a limited amount for 2016,” says Saint Archer Brewmaster Kim Brisson-Lutz. “After evaluating the aroma profile of this experimental hop, we chose one of our favorite hops, Citra, to compliment the hop profile and create the ultimate hop forward IPA.”
Saint Archer Brewing Company was founded on a unique strain of creative talent:
