North Carolina is rapidly becoming the hottest destination for craft brewers to expand.
Today, the Longmont, Colo. based Oskar Blues Brewery announced plans to build a 30,000 sq. ft. brewery in Brevard, North Carolina. Plans also call for a 6,000 sq. ft. restaurant and music venue and the entire project should be complete by December, 2012.
Brevard is located just 34 miles south of Asheville where the country’s 3rd largest craft brewer, New Belgium, will also be building its second facility. Sierra Nevada, the country’s 2nd largest craft brewer, has also announced plans to build a second location in Mills River, just 19 miles south of Asheville.
Brewbound is reporting live from the Craft Brewers Conference in San Diego this week and will have more on this story soon. In the meantime, check out the official press release.
