Bloomington, IL — DESTIHL Brewery, of Bloomington, Illinois, officially announced today that it will expand distribution of its beers in Florida beginning January 23.
This spring, DESTIHL plans on opening a new 47,000 sq. ft. production facility in Normal, Illinois. DESTIHL broke ground on the project in June 2016.
“Building the new production brewery is enabling us to move forward again with our expansion into new, exciting markets like Florida”, said DESTIHL’s Founder, Brewmaster and CEO, Matt Potts. “We look forward to this opportunity for DESTIHL beers to widely be available in this state, which has had many fans seeking our beers for years. The key in making this happen was to team up with a new distribution company that is set up for success with an experienced group of founders who are very passionate about our beers.”
“We are very excited and honored that DESTIHL Brewery has joined the Progressive Distribution family. We look forward to a long-term business and personal relationship with the DESTIHL team as we grow their brand in the Florida market”, said Jeff Erwin of Progressive Distributors.
In a few short years, DESTIHL has earned multiple awards, including multiple Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) medals, Festival of Barrel Aged Beers (FoBAB) National Wood-Aged Beer Competition 2015 Best of Show, 2016 Best in Show-Runner Up and 2016 Gold for its Dosvidanya® Russian Imperial Stout (aged in bourbon barrels). DESTIHL’s sour program began several years ago in 2008 with its barrel-aged Saint Dekkera® Reserve Sour Ales, which have also won several awards, and it was that brand that originally got the brewery noticed nationally back in 2011 at GABF.
However, the brewery’s notoriety rose in late 2014 to a whole new level with its trend-setting release of its Wild Sour Series in 4-packs of 12 oz. cans. This Series is a line of bold kettle sours DESTIHL produces with its own wild mixed-culture which is indigenous to the central Illinois brewery. Beers from the Wild Sour Series (including cans of Here Gose Nothin’®, Flanders Red and its newly released dry-hopped sour SynchopathicTM) are hitting Florida this month along with the brewery’s core year-round offerings such as Weissenheimer® Hefeweizen, Vertex IPA®, Abbey’s Single® Belgian Ale and other brands as well.
