Anheuser-Busch Provides Emergency Drinking Water to Northern California Firefighters

ANHEUSER-BUSCH EMERGENCY DRINKING WATER

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Anheuser-Busch is providing 2,156 cases of emergency drinking water — or 51,744 cans — to firefighters and relief workers trying to quell wildfires in Northern California.

A truck loaded with water arrived last Friday in Sacramento, California. Markstein Beverage, the local Anheuser-Busch distributor, is working with the American Red Cross to distribute the water to firefighters and relief workers battling the Valley, Butte and Rough wildfires.

“Anheuser-Busch is committed to supporting local communities,” said Peter Kraemer, vice president of Supply and head brewmaster for Anheuser-Busch. “Men and women have been out on the frontlines fighting the wildfires in California and they need clean drinking water. This is one way Anheuser-Busch can be a good steward of its resources.”

Since 1988, Anheuser-Busch has donated nearly 74 million cans of emergency drinking water following natural and other disasters. Just last month, the company provided more than 50,000 cans of water to assist firefighters in Washington state.

Helping communities cope with disasters has been an Anheuser-Busch tradition since 1906 when Adolphus Busch made a donation to the Red Cross for victims of the San Francisco earthquake. Today, in addition to providing monetary support as a member of the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program, Anheuser-Busch packages emergency drinking water and works with the Red Cross and other emergency relief organizations for distribution to those in need.
