San Francisco, CA — Today, Anchor Brewing Company announces the opening of a beer garden at The Yard at Mission Rock, an 18,000-square-foot pop-up food and retail village.
The Yard will serve as a prototype for the future Mission Rock neighborhood development and will open in March 2015 operating 7 days a week, year round. Temporarily located in Giants Parking Lot A, adjacent to AT&T Park, The Yard—constructed of repurposed shipping containers —will feature a rotating selection of shops and vendors, public space, cultural programming and events.
In 2013, Anchor Brewing announced plans to construct a permanent home in Mission Rock with the development of a world-class facility at Pier 48 as part of the Mission Rock Development Project. Headed by the San Francisco Giants, The Mission Rock Development is a new, mixed use urban neighborhood, which will include residential and office units, restaurants, retail space, public amenities, and an all-new brewing facility from Anchor Brewing. While Anchor will maintain its iconic Potrero Hill brewery, the addition of the Pier 48 facility will quadruple Anchor’s annual brewing capacity and feature production facilities for brewing, distilling, packaging, storing, and shipping; and a restaurant, museum and educational facility in the headhouse of Pier 48.
“We are always looking for fun and innovative ways of bringing the community together while enjoying one of our Anchor beers. The opening of The Yard will allow us to do just that in a whole new way,” said Anchor Brewing CEO Keith Greggor. “We’re excited to launch our beer garden at The Yard, a pop-up across McCovey Cove from the ballpark. Giants fans have been enjoying Anchor Steam Beer for years, and now we can provide another opportunity for fans and other visitors to gather, drink Steam and try all of our other beers too.”
Anchor Brewing’s beer garden at The Yard will be located in Parking Lot A at the corner of 3rd Street and Terry Francois Blvd. in San Francisco starting March 2015.

About Anchor Brewing Company
Anchor Brewing Company’s roots date back to the California Gold Rush making it one of America’s oldest breweries. Its Anchor Steam® Beer is San Francisco’s original since 1896. In 1965, Fritz Maytag acquired and revived the struggling brewery at a time when mass production of beer dominated and seemed unstoppable. Maytag started a revolution in beer that originated today’s craft beer movement. An undisputed icon, Anchor is America’s first craft brewery where beers are handmade in our traditional copper brewhouse from an all-malt mash. At Anchor, we practice the time-honored art of classical brewing, employing state-of-the-art methods to ensure that our beers are always pure and fresh. We know of no brewery in the world that matches our efforts to combine traditional, natural brewing with such carefully applied, modern methods of sanitation, finishing, packaging and transporting.
