Key Responsibilities:

Technical and Maintenance Expertise

  • Preventative Maintenance: Maintain preventative maintenance program (MaintainX), monitoring, and record-keeping systems for brewing, packaging, and support equipment across the entire facility.
  • Inspection & Repairs: Inspect, test, and repair brewing and production machinery, diagnosing mechanical problems through troubleshooting techniques (e.g., listening for unusual sounds, analyzing machine operation).
  • Equipment Improvement: Focus on improving existing equipment and the development/implementation of new equipment to enhance the production process.
  • Utility Systems Maintenance: Assist management in overseeing utility systems to ensure uninterrupted supply to brewery needs, including maintaining utility equipment and supplies.
  • Piping and Hydraulic Systems: Install, modify, and maintain pipe systems and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, including sanitary piping (experience is a plus).
  • Fabrication & Metalworking: Operate machine tools (e.g., grinders, drill presses) and welding equipment (TIG, arc welding, orbital welding) to repair, fabricate, or modify machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and process piping.

Safety and Compliance

  • Safety Protocols: Ensure adherence to Confined Space Entry procedures, Lockout procedures, and other safety standards.
  • Workplace Safety: Maintain a clean and safe working environment by performing regular housekeeping functions both in the shop and on the job site.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with management and peers across functions to ensure that maintenance schedules align with production goals.
  • Project Management: Propose, lead, and commission capital projects related to equipment upgrades and facility repairs.
  • Training and Supervision: Supervise and provide guidance to the maintenance team, ensuring they are trained and prepared to handle maintenance tasks efficiently and safely.

Technical Systems Management

  • PLC and Automation Systems: Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, motor control systems, and control networks. Experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley automation is highly valued.
  • Instrumentation & Controls: Troubleshoot and service temperature, pressure, and flow control loops, as well as repair components such as valves, pumps, actuators, and instrumentation.
  • Mechanical and Electrical Systems: In-depth knowledge of machinery, electrical systems, HVAC, Chillers and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Automation Systems: Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), robotics, and other automated systems used in manufacturing.

Materials and Equipment Management

  • Spare Parts Management: Purchase, maintain, and track adequate spare parts and supplies to ensure that repairs are timely and cost-effective.
  • Facility Repairs: Oversee minor repairs to the facility and equipment, acquiring quotes for building projects as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise: Broad knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fluid handling systems, including joining techniques, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is preferred. Experience with process equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, refrigeration systems, and boilers is required.
  • Education: An Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year technical school is highly desired.
  • Automation Knowledge: Experience with Siemens/Allen Bradley PLC systems (programming is a plus).
  • Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills are a must.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Ability to collaborate effectively with management and across functions to achieve operational goals.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with Confined Space Entry and Lockout procedures, as well as P&IDs, equipment cut sheets, and manufacturer-provided drawings.

Purpose and Focus:

The core purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth operation of all brewery and production equipment, working closely with the Operations to maintain, improve, and innovate upon equipment and systems. By developing robust preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and supporting new equipment projects, the Maintenance Manager contributes significantly to the brewery's operational efficiency and long-term success.
